Employment Practices
Discovery is not an affiliate or signatory to any television, film or broadcast-related union or guild (e.g., Directors Guild of America (DGA), Writers Guild of America (WGA), American Federation of Television & Radio Artists (AFTRA), Screen Actors Guild (SAG), American Federation of Musicians (AFM), International Alliance of Television & Stage Employees (I.A.T.S.E.), etc.).
Hiring of Union/Guild-Affiliated Employees
During your Discovery budget negotiation and prior to contract and employing any Union or Guild Affiliated Employees, Discovery approval must be obtained. Should a Producer, at their own discretion, decide to employ an individual affiliated with an industry-related union or guild, it is understood the Producer has been duly informed that they do so at their own risk and must be responsible for complying with all required union or guild rules and regulations. The Producer further understands and agrees that they will, indemnify Discovery harmless from any claims and defend from encumbrances or additional costs arising from the employment by the Producer of any industry-related guild or union individual.
Other Collective Bargaining Agreements
The Producer should not sign or otherwise engage in an agreement with other collective bargaining entities (I.A.T.S.E., A.F.L./C.I.O. (Teamsters), Screen Extras Guild, etc.) without first informing the Discovery Production Manager of the Producer’s intent to do so during the Discovery budget negotiation prior to contract. Any collective bargaining agreement between the Producer and the Union or Guild must expressly exclude Discovery.
