Discovery has engaged Aon/Albert G. Ruben Insurance Services, Inc. (“Aon”) on a world-wide basis to represent Discovery and our producing partners for all production-related insurance and risk management services, including media errors & omissions.

FOR TBS, TNT AND TRUTV, THE FOLLOWING PROCESS DOES NOT APPLY.

Please contact Kristy Coleman at Kristy.Coleman@wbd.com and Network Production Legal on your project to discuss insurance requirements/process for tbs, TNT and truTV projects.

PRODUCTION INSURANCE

  • Production’s insurance policies shall be bound prior to the start of production (including, but not limited to: Worker’s Compensations, Production Insurance Package, US and/or Foreign General Liability, Non-Owned Auto Liability, Cast/Keyman)
  • If on-camera talent is contracted by Discovery, notify your broker to add the talent as “additionally insured” on your General Liability policy for the project.

Discovery will forward Aon a Notification of each Production. Aon will then contact you immediately or you may initiate the call if you need an insurance quote or coverage prior to Aon contacting you. Production insurance policies must be bound prior to production’s contracted start date.

You will find all requisite applications, policy descriptions, claim forms and Aon/Albert G. Ruben service contacts in the attached Production Insurance Handbook, or you may use the following link where you can register as a new user and access all materials and submit application electronically.

           https://www.albertgruben.com

You must advise Aon in writing, of any special risks associated with your production. This includes but is not limited to: stunts, pyrotechnics, precision driving, aircraft, drones, watercraft, railroads, foreign activities, animals, or any unusual or hazardous exposures and/or conditions involving either cast or crew.

Discovery has negotiated a global insurance program providing broad coverage terms and competitive rate availability to our producing partners.  All Insurance coverages provided under the Discovery Program and or as quoted and placed separately are subject to the precise terms, conditions and exclusions of the respective policy of insurance.

If applicable, and you already have a corporate policy in place or would like to use your program of insurance please contact your assigned PM for consideration. Please keep in mind that your proposed vendor must be able to substantiate equivalent or better coverage at a more favorable rate. You will be asked to provide this information to Aon/Albert G. Ruben for review with the appropriate notification to your PM prior to receiving approval to use a vendor other than Aon/Albert G. Ruben.

ERRORS & OMISSIONS COVERAGE

  • This insurance covers the content in a programme against potential misrepresentation. It also includes Title Coverage when an official Title Search and Legal Opinion have been obtained.
  • If on-camera talent is contracted by Discovery, notify your broker to add the talent as “additionally insured” on the E&O policy for the project.
  • Discovery has its own blanket policy through AON.  It is free of charge to your production but you must apply to be added to the policy.
  • Once Aon has received and approved your application they will send you a certificate
  • Application must be submitted and approved BEFORE the programme goes to air

Producers are required to secure Errors & Omissions insurance for all Discovery programming.

It is mandatory to insure your Discovery programming through our Discovery Worldwide Program and as administered by Aon/Albert G. Ruben Insurance Services.

ALL Discovery programming, unless deemed otherwise through the application and review process, will be insured under the Discovery Communications Master Errors & Omissions contract.

Should your application for coverage be rejected or be subject to increased expense or deductible obligations please review the specific terms with your PM.

If you elect to place separate coverage for your co-production exploitation obligations Aon/Albert G. Ruben can assist you in arranging a stand-alone policy. Please note however that you will be responsible for 100% of the cost of such insurance.

Please discuss with your Aon/Albert G. Ruben Insurance Services representative any and all requests for any individual or entity that requires to be added as an additional insured to the E & O contract.

Please also see the Fair Use Procedure page under the Policies section.
