FOR HGTV, Food Network, Travel Channel, and Cooking Channel PRODUCTIONS
Please see the Producer-Held Talent Guidelines above which apply only to HGTV, Food Network, Travel Channel, and Cooking Channel.
FOR INTERNATIONAL PRODUCTIONS
Hiring Your Talent
Once you have a short list of desired talent, you may contact your Discovery Business and Legal Affairs contact on your project, for assistance with the offer, negotiation and contracting of the talent. If your project is a commission with DNI, Business and Legal Affairs can advise, consult and even negotiate on your behalf, but if you are maintaining copyright/ownership of the production, the contract should come from you (the Production Company responsible for physically producing the program(s)). It is important that the proper rights exploitation language and, in some cases, publicity language is in your contract with the talent.
DNI Approval
All principal cast members and narrators must be approved by the DNI Network Executive Producer prior to hiring. The Producer should not negotiate, agree to, or otherwise contract any performer without the prior approval of the Executive Producer.
